IT WAS A VERY GOOD YEAR
The year 2007 has passed, but it will be remembered as a very good year in the South Plains economy. The crops in our region turned out to be spectacular. Combined with the oil and gas industry upsurge and a good situation for cattlemen simply added up to be good news for this region. Peoples Bank enjoyed serving even more customers in 2007 than previous years, a sign to us that you like and appreciate the friendly, personal service we enjoy giving. We will give you additional details in our next quarterly newsletter. 2007 was basically the third year in a row for farmers to enjoy good crops. Not the norm for those of us who have lived in this region all our lives. We are hoping for another good year in 2008. Can we enjoy four in a row? Farmers are preparing their land and getting ready again. It costs more to product the bountiful crops. Fertilizer and fuel costs will remain at present levels during 2008, according to the economists. Might even edge up a bit they say. Please remember, in good years and the not so good years, Peoples Bank understands agriculture and we are committed to standing by our ag producers every year. E-STATEMENTS AVAILABLE AND USAGE GROWING
E-Statements may still be something new to many of you who read our quarterly newsletters. But, we appreciate those who understand the safety and security they provide. Using E-Statements just makes good sense.
Businesses who have started using our E-Statements have many positive things to say about them. Fast and dependable, E-Statements are available at your normal statement cut-off date each month and can (and should) be downloaded directly into your home or business computer for permanent storage. Once in your computer, they are always available for any research you might need to do. As always, if you need assistance, we’re ready to help. If you have questions about E-Statements and how to get started using them each month, give us a call. They are FREE along with the entire On-Line Banking services.
ELECTRONIC PAYMENTS USAGE GOING UP
According to a Federal Reserve study released in mid-December, electronic payments accounted for two-thirds of all the noncash payments in the United States in 2006. The use of paper checks declined while electronic payments grew. The decline in paper checks usage has been 6.4% each year since 2003.
SBA LOANS FROM PEOPLES BANK GETS BUSINESS GOING...FAST
Our bank has had the opportunity to assist many men and women get into business or take positive action in growing or expanding their business through the Small Business Administration (SBA) Loan Programs. SBA loans are a great way to achieve the dream of owning your own business. And, our experienced lending staff is ready and qualified to help get the entire process completed in the fastest time possible. Peoples Bank is a Preferred Lender with the SBA. This means the loan approval time for SBA loans is greatly shortened. Many times, once all financial information is submitted, approval can be received within two days.

The newest SBA loan product to be made available to prospective borrowers is the Patriot Express loan. It allows veterans, spouses, members of the National Guard and Reserves (our military community) to take advantage of this program which helps them own or expand their business.

NAMES IN THE NEWS
Peoples Bank has promoted two bank officers to new duties within the bank, reflecting the continued growth of the bank as a whole.
Dawna Fullwood has been promoted to the new position of Lobby Services Officer. She will oversee and supervise the daily duties of all bank tellers and the customer service representatives you find sitting at our new accounts desks at all banking locations.
Dawna joined Peoples Bank in October 2007 and has more than 16 years of banking and financial experience in San Angelo, Midland, and the D-FW Metroplex area. She is a graduate of Angelo State with a degree in Communications, Marketing, and Management.
Cory Cash will oversee the newly established Fraud Services area for Peoples Bank. He is an Assistant Cashier and will be the contact for all fraud research and fraud disputes. Cory graduated from Texas Tech in 2003 majoring in Communication Studies.
Both of these friendly, helpful people will provide even better service to all our customers in the future in these new positions.
HOME EQUITY LOANS & DEBT CONSOLIDATION
The most requested reason home owners in our service area are asking about and taking out Home Equity Loans is to consolidate their debts. Interest on your Home Equity loan may be tax deductible. We suggest you talk with your tax preparation person for tax related questions. There are several good reasons to consider using the equity in your present home: education expenses, home improvements, or a new car just to name a few. Terms for Home Equity loans can be up to 15 years if needed.

BUILDING A BIGGER BANK ONE BRANCH AT A TIME
As you probably know, our bank has five locations to serve customers across this area. Two in Lubbock, one in Lorenzo which serves all of Crosby County and beyond; Nazareth, which serves all of Castro County and more as the dairies, feed yards and farms continue to fuel the economy in that region; and our newest branch is open and doing very well in Shallowater.
Shallowater is operating like many banks do as they initiate service in a community…using a temporary facility. Construction of our beautiful new permanent building in Shallowater (on Highway 84 at the traffic light) will be underway and completed in 2008. This facility will be a very positive addition to Shallowater and the business community, which shows signs of growing more and more.
Currently, plans are being discussed for adding additional branches to better serve our customers and prospective customers. A healthy bank is a growing bank…and a growing bank is a healthy bank. We want to do that one branch at a time. This is only possible due to the continued relationship we have with you our customer.

WE GIVE BACK & WE SERVE Our bank and staff have served and given back in many ways during the 2007. From the recent U CAN SHARE Food Drive where we gave funds for more than 4,000 after-school meals in the Kids Café Program to officers and staff speaking at Lubbock Christian University, Texas Tech and several schools in our region, Peoples Bank is a very active supporter in all our communities. Coat Drives, delivering Meals On Wheels each week, serving on various boards and committees, giving blood at our blood drives…we gladly give back to the many organizations which make a positive impact on people and communities.
JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT is another way several of our staff “teach” about financial things to school students. We appreciate our staff members who give of their time and experience to show they care.
